Partner Profile: The Powerhouse
Located in the historic Old Town district, The Powerhouse is offering up a brand new venue and service to Greater Victoria. Transformed from a steam-generating plant that once fueled Victoria’s early electrical needs and the city’s streetcar system, this 130-year-old building is now home to a collective of local companies including Metropol Industries, Ecologyst, Powerhouse Pinball Club, and Vancouver Island Arcade Amusements. The Powerhouse is a prominent building to the downtown and Rock Bay community, and is always looking to get involved and work with other partners within its community.
Led by the team behind Quazar’s Arcade, The Powerhouse is also home to Victoria’s own Pinball Club. Steve Webb, owner of Quazar’s, moved a portion of his extensive collection of pinball machines to The Powerhouse in 2020 after restrictions led to the temporary closure of the arcade. There is nothing like playing pinball in person and The Powerhouse gave more space for the machines to be dispersed, allowing members to come by during drop-in hours from 1-9pm on Sundays. With almost 600 members already, The Powerhouse Pinball Club is a membership, available to anyone, for $10 a year.

We continue to see pinball in Victoria’s future as the Powerhouse welcomes the Great Canadian Flipout Pinball & Arcade Show on June 23rd-26th, 2022. This show includes tournaments, speakers and over 100 pinball machines, including collectibles and one-of-a-kind custom builds.
The Powerhouse acts as one of Victoria’s most unique venues with its industrial concrete and steel structure, high ceilings, and character brick exterior. On top of pinball and Victoria Beer Week events, the Powerhouse is becoming a multipurpose space for uniquely curated events, this year including weddings.
