In the brewing process, yeast is the seemingly magical ingredient that does the lion’s share of the work in creating the beer. Microscopic yeast cells chew through the fermentable sugars, converting them into alcohol and carbon dioxide while releasing flavours and aromas that also contribute to the finished beer. Brewers use many different kinds of yeast for different reasons: some add significant flavours themselves while others hide in the background. Some yeasts work slowly in a cold environment, while others race to the finish and prefer to be warm.

The Moon’s Brewmaster, Clay Potter, will talk about the role yeast plays in brewing, and present four of his beers that each showcase yeast in a different way. This event is a great chance to learn more about the unique role yeast plays in the creation of beer.
